LONGSHADOW
The Full Story
LongShadow:
LongShadow are an emerging artist and songwriting partnership from London, UK who set foot on a pathway to define the next era of English Psychedelic Rock.
Spun from the fabric of their British heritage and experiences , LongShadow are drawn into the orbit of a genre that taps into the archetypal English psyche and unique culture to create an album that challenges and celebrates the dynamic that exists between the fringes of society and mainstream British culture.
LongShadow songs are cowritten by Richard Barker and Brian Reeves who both grew up in the working class blue collar area of Brentford on shores of the river Thames in West London. Influenced by their working class roots and the pioneering quadraphonic era that dominated the stereos of their early years LongShadows’ music and lyrics draw on their personal experience and perspective on the varied and distinct stages of life as well as universally shared constructs such as finding love, the reality and drudgery of work and capitalism, experimentation with substances and the fabric of established British society.
LongShadow Vol.1 is the perfect anti-dote album to the non-stop 24hr information tsunami overload, the band cast the album Vol.1 as a new sound that adds a newer narrative and soundtrack to accompany the mid-era their generation and others are about to embark on.
LongShadow wanted to revive and echo album art work akin to the albums loved by the band from their childhood, working with local photographic artist IFL over 500 individual hand drawn symbols adorn the cover of LongShadow Vol.1, each carefully crafted and researched by IFL resulting in a one off piece of artwork of which 529 limited edition postcards have been produced and signed by the artist.
Through the album cover LongShadow convey their collective individualism with each of the symbols derived from modern, historic, spiritual and physical culture on the cover represent both the individual and collection myriad of interpretations that music conjures up for each listener in a personal way that embraces the universal collective of what has been, what is now and what is to come….
